Colombian President Gustavo Petro announced a 23.7% minimum wage increase effective January 1, 2026 which represents the largest increase in recent history and nearly 4 times what would have resulted from the traditional formula based on inflation and labor productivity.  
For flower growers, the effect is especially significant, as labor represents between 50-60% of total production costs.  
In coming weeks, expect some slight increases on pricing on Colombian grown flowers as a result of this large increase.
